North of Tyne and Gateshead Diabetic Eye Screening Programme

North of Tyne and Gateshead Diabetic Eye Screening offers free checks every 1-2 years (depending on screening results) for people with diabetes aged 12 and over, to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of preventable sight loss. The service covers Newcastle, North Tyneside, Gateshead and Northumberland, inviting eligible patients for quick, painless retinal photographs. Early detection through screening helps prevent vision and supports long-term eye health. If you have diabetes and haven't received an invite, contact your GP or contact us on 0191 823 6622.
