Railway Medical Group (Blyth PCN) - Health and Wellbeing Team can offer you advice, support and practical help. This includes advice on long term conditions, including dementia, cancers, mental health and more. We can offer support with adult social care referrals, filling in forms (benefits/housing etc) and referrals to other local health and wellbeing services. In addition to our drop-ins, we hold regular events and support all local community groups. All our events and actvities are free and open to anyone living in Blyth.

We also offer a variety of FREE drop-in services throughout the month:

  • Railway Medical Art Group - Every Friday (10am-12pm) in the Blyth Health Centre, Thoroton Street, NE24 1DX. The group is completely free with refreshments provided throughout the morning. Basic Art supplies are provided but feel free to bring along anything you wish to use.
  • Menopause and Women's Health - We offer a FREE Menopause Cafe on the THIRD Monday of every month (4-6) at Blyth Family Hub, 103 Wright Street, Blyth NE24 1HG. Come along and share your experiences or just listen to others. We are joined by GP Dr Corrigan who is Railways Womens Health expert as well as different health and wellbeing coaches. 
  • Grief and Loss Support - A safe space for people of all ages to listen and share their experiences while dealing with grief. We also offer regular activities and talks with grief counsellors to support you and your family through this difficult time. Every SECOND Tuesday of the month (2-4pm) Blyth Family Hub 103, Wright street, Blyth NE24 1HG.
  • Diabetic peer support - A monthly space to discuss diabetes, medications and tools to combat the disease. With regular guest speaker Dr Ruth Parr answering any clinical questions and dietian Rian providing important nutritional support. The LAST Tuesday of every month (2-3pm) Blyth West Family Hub, Devonworth Place, Blyth, NE24 5AQ.
  • Walking for Wellbeing - Join the team on a walk for wellbeing every Tuesday 10-11:30am leaving from the Railway Medical Newsham site,Newcastle Road, Blyth, NE24 4AW. All abilities and ages welcome. 
  • Railway Medical health and wellbeing team Monthly Drop in - The first Monday of each month (10am-1pm) at Blyth CVA Hub, 14 Market Place Blyth and again the THIRD Tuesday of the month (1-3pm) at Blyth Library Bridge street, NE24 1DJ. We are there to help you stay well. We can navigate appointments, forms, referrals together or simply pop in for a chat and a hot drink. FREE!
  • We also hold regular one off activities and well-being events kindly supported by a range of different organisations. These are all advertised locally as well as on our Facebook page: Railway Medical Group Facebook 

Who can use this service?

How are services delivered?

All our events, actvities are free and open to anyone living in Blyth (aged 12 and above).

Due to GDPR we can currently only support patients registered with Railway Medical Group with anything that may require access to medical and personal information we can however contact your surgery on your behalf or assist you with this. 

Our monthly drop in sessions are delievered on face to face basis.

All appointments can be made in the surgery (all three sites covered) and can be face to face, over the phone or in a safe space where appropriate.
