Northumberland Sensory Services
On behalf of Northumberland County Council, we deliver a specialist preventative and reablement services for adults with a sensory impairment living within the county of Northumberland. We provide specialist and support services across Northumberland for deaf and hard of hearing adults including those with a visual impairment (18+). We also provide support for young people aged 16 and over transitioning to adult services. Through this service we support people with a sensory impairment to maintain independence, live in their own homes, continue to live their lives as they choose and remain active in their community.We also provide practical, social and emotional support and help people develop skills and knowledge to maintain their home themselves.
Assessment and Support Planning : We can provide specialist assessments of need to help people and can offer a wide range of rehabilitation services. We work with individuals to develop a support plan which details identified needs, chosen outcomes and how these are going to be met.
Rehabilitation Service : Our specialist staff provide orientation and mobility training enabling individuals to remain independent and safe in their own home and in their local community. This support can also include daily living skills.
Technology : We provide advice, support and training around use of users personal devices, such as smart phones, tablets and Alexa units.
